Eating & Sleeping in Pucon

View from our Hotel Room
We stayed at the Hotel Patagonia and could not fault it. The Reception was pleasant, they spoke English, and offered free tickets and transfers to their own Terma in the mountains. The lounge areas were comfortable and relaxing with a lovely fire at night for guests to enjoy. The room was a good size, clean, a large bed, separate ensuite, and with a great view of the volcano. We had a quiet room at the back of the hotel with balconies to two sides. Breakfast was good with a range of hot and cold food, and a good selection of teas and coffee. The hotel is managed by Patagonia Andina Management Group which also runs Patagonia Experience Tourism. We got the impression they didn't quite know how to pitch the hotel - informal and relaxed for Santiago's middle class youth who come here to enjoy rock climbing and river rafting, or for the more discerning boutique hotel clientele. It fell somewhere in the middle, and it worked for us!

We found a great restaurant opposite the hotel, a Uruguayan steakhouse. It was expensive, but the meal was so huge you only needed one course. We shared a good bottle of Chilean red wine and enjoyed rump steak with all the extras, that was as good, if not better, than our steaks in Buenos Aires.
